Meet the Team

Our team are highly trained in many areas and are happy to look after your general health and more specific requirements.  We are dedicated to listening to you, discussing your physical and mental concerns in an honest and open fashion. We will provide you with up to date, evidence-based medical advice to make informed choices when it comes to managing your health.

The practice is also a training practice for specialist trainees in general practice from the Irish College of General Practitioners training scheme. These trainees are qualified experienced doctors and are undertaking further experience and training in general practice. They remain in the practice from periods of 6 months to 1 year.

Dr John Bannon

Dr Bannon qualified in 2002 from Trinity College Dublin and completed internships in Dublin. He undertook general practice vocational training in Teeside, Northeast England. After this he worked in North West England in Hospitals in Salford and Manchester. He has been a GP in county Westmeath since 2002 and in 2016 moved full time into Mullingar.

Dr. Bannon opened his first practice in Castletown Geoghegan in 2002. The success of this practice led to the opening of his second practice in Greenpark, Mullingar in 2005.  On 8th October 2016 Dr. Bannon  set up in the new Mullingar Healthcare Complex in Austin Friar St., Mullingar.

Special interest included paediatrics, Men’s health, Neurological diseases and performing minor surgery. Other GP interests include Mental Health, Gynaecology, and Adolescent health.

Dr Bannon’s practice is a Family Practice covering all aspects of Men’s health, Women’s health, Children and Adolescents, especially youth addiction in adolescents. Also Neurological diseases, Mental health, and minor surgery.

He now has a role training medical students from the University of Limerick and University of Maastricht. Other roles include General GP training.

Both our Nurses, Nurse Ann Marie and Nurse Lynne, have many years of experience in all aspects of dealing with patients in a GP surgery. Their special interests include sexual health screening, childhood vaccines, Maternity care, Chronic Disease Management programmes, and Cervical Smear programmes.
